Course Overview

This practical, evidence-based course is ideal for individuals looking to enhance their skills in supporting the education of individuals or groups of learners. Undertaking this apprenticeship, you will specialise in one of three specialist duties:

  • Supporting the implementation of SEND policy, processes, and procedures. They will advance learning for those learners with SEND.
  • Support the implementation of policy for Social and Wellbeing, processes, and procedures in this area. They will focus on learners’ social and emotional well-being, to advance learning.
  • Specialise in curriculum to provide support for learners and advance learning in a specialist curriculum or subject area of expertise. This may include, but is not limited to, supporting with advancing learning through early reading or early maths interventions, supporting a specific subject area or forest school provision, or supporting provision for learners with English as an additional language (EAL).

As part of the programme, you will receive regular coaching sessions and will be observed in the workplace.

Qualification Achieved

On completion of this apprenticeship, you will hold a Level 5 Specialist Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship. Additional qualifications include;

  • Professional Diploma in Digital Learning Design
  • Level 2 Functional Skills Mathematics
  • Level 2 Functional Skills English

Progression

The role may act as a gateway to further career and training opportunities, including, but not limited to:

  • Academic Professional Level 7 Apprenticeship
  • Senior Leader Level 7 Apprenticeship

Learning & Assessment

Each apprentice will have their own dedicated tutor who will conduct monthly remote tutorials and reviews, providing continuous support throughout the apprenticeship program. Depending on the apprentice’s needs, the frequency of these sessions may vary.

End Point Assessment

Each Apprentice must undergo an independent end-point assessment to determine the outcome of their apprenticeship. The assessments will assess the knowledge, skills and behaviours gained during their programme. Typical methods assessed are:

  • Observation of performance
  • Interview supported with portfolio of evidence
  • Knowledge Assessment

Individual employers will set their own criteria for this apprenticeship.

Hire an Apprentice

We can work with you to source a suitable applicant for your organisation, or you can up-skill your existing employees. If the employee is under 19 and your business has fewer than 50 employees, there will be no cost for the training. If they are over 19 and/or your business has over 50 employees then you will contribute 5% towards the cost of the training. For any businesses paying into the levy, all training costs will be covered.
