Course Overview
A PE and School Sport Apprentice acts as a role model for young people and helps to shape a positive relationship with physical activity. This apprenticeship provides transferrable skills such as the planning, delivery, and review of PE and School Sport sessions, supporting with behaviour management, and the assessment of young people.
The aim of this qualification is to give learners the knowledge and skills in order to be able to support the delivery of PE and sports activities in a school sport environment under the direct supervision of a more qualified individual, in a safe, ethical and effective way. The PESS Apprentice would work alongside class teachers and other support staff within the school workforce in the delivery of PE and school sport.
The role includes curriculum delivery, competitions, off-site activities, and extracurricular provision. This is a school based role, and could be in the primary, special or secondary education sector.
